To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the People's Republic of China, 373 parks in the capital will open free to citizens on Oct 1, according to the Beijing News.

The free admission covers 96 percent of Beijing's total parks, including some of the most popular ones, such as Beijing Botanical Garden, the Old Summer Palace, and the Fragrant Hills.

Among the 373 parks, over 40 are not free on regular days. The admission price for all parks will return on Oct 2.

Staff at the parks will control the traffic by offering a seasonable number of limited free tickets, to ensure the parks are not crowded.
