A traveling exhibit sponsored by the US embassy in China, The Sum of Many Parts: 25 Quiltmakers in 21st Century America, has opened in Dalian with a guest appearance by one of the featured quilt artists, Martha Ginn of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The exhibit runs through April 14.

China's new premier, Li Keqiang, met former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger in Beijing, calling for more people to become involved in China-US relations. Li applauded the robust growth of China-US relations over the past 40 years, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said, adding that ties between the two nations cannot go further without support and participation from their two peoples. Kissinger highlighted the vital importance of US-China relations in promoting world peace and development.

Chinese Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli met former US Secretary of Defense William Cohen last week and pledged to create a fair business environment for foreign enterprises, Xinhua News Agency reports. During the meeting, Zhang said China is readjusting its economic structure and deepening reform and opening up, which will generate new opportunities for China and the US to boost economic cooperation.

Wang Chen, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, met with a delegation of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in Beijing on Wednesday. The delegation was headed by a ranking member of the committee, Senator Bob Corker. The Republican from Tennessee kicked off his visit to China on Tuesday at the invitation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the NPC.

At the invitation of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Consul-General Sun Guoxiang met with the superintendent of the academy, Lieutenant General David H. Huntoon Jr., and addressed more than 200 cadets of the Department of Foreign Languages on March 22. Sun spoke about the foreign policy of the People's Republic of China and Sino-US relations.
