In addition to the usual New Year's treats during Spring Festival, Beijing residents are being treated to the classical ballet Swan Lake performed by the Cuban National Ballet from Feb 20 to 24.
The show, now halfway through its China tour, is a new special edition led and choreographed by Laura Alonso, director of the Cuban National Ballet. This version has enjoyed a worldwide reputation and been performed in famous venues such as the Opera National de Paris by other well-known ballet troupes.
This is the third time Alonso has brought some of Cuba's young and most talented dancers to China, and she’s excited about the warm welcome the ballet company has received in the country.
"I hope this time we can bring the best performance to the Chinese audience," said the director.
Presenting magic spells and power of love to conquer adversity, Swan Lake is a must-see that features fine music and dance as well as elegant costumes and stage settings, along with technical virtuosity.
