You could call it a win-win situation for Hubert Tang.
The Bay Area man found a $20 bill on the street outside San Francisco International Airport last week and used it to buy two Jackpot Scratchers! lottery tickets at a market in Milbrae, California.
Tang’s luck doubled down, as one of the tickets turned out to be a $1 million winner.
“I scratched the ticket outside of the store. I told my friend who I was with that I didn’t know if it was real but, ‘I think I just won a million dollars,’ ” said Tang, according to California Lottery spokesman Greg Parashak.
Tang, who bartends at the airport, had not played the lottery for about a decade before using the $20 windfall to buy two tickets, Parashak said on Sunday.
Lottery officials said the store, Andrea’s Market, will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket on Aug 26.
Tang also has a second chance to win up to $25,000 for the other ticket he purchased that was not a winner.
Tang said he may begin leaving $20 bills on the street in random placesh to spread his good fortune.
He’s also probably going to be expected to buy a few rounds of drinks for a while.
