Hollywood top-tier talents honored at Chinese awards

China brought its largest movie awards show to Hollywood Sunday at the Montalban Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday. Co-hosted by US actress Lucy Liu and Chinese television personality Olivia Xu, the Huading Film Awards honored the film industry's leading talents.

The Huading Film Awards are selected by the public in China, with an estimated 100 million fans voting through polls and surveys in which they select the best movies, directors, producers and actors , allowing American artists to connect to Chinese moviegoers who support their films.

Academay Award winner Halle Berry, star of X-Men and the new CBS series Extant, received the Global Icon Award.

Bradley Cooper, Oscar nominated in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook and in 2014 for American Hustle, received the Best Global Actor award.

An Oscar nominated actor in The Town, and The Hurt Locker, Jeremy Renner was recognized as the Best Global Supporting Actor for his performance in American Hustle.

Director Guillermo Del Toro, best known for Pacific Rim, Hellboy and Pan's Labyrinth, received the Huading Film Award's Best Global Director.

DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg accepted the Best Global Animation Award for The Croods. Under his leadership, the third instalment of Kung Fu Panda is set to premiere in December 2015. Previously Kung Fu Panda set the record as the number one animated film in China.

Actress and producer Zoe Saldana, who will soon reprise the role of Neytiri in James Cameron's epic Avatar films, filmed in large part on location in China, was recognized as Best Global Supporting Actress for her role in Star Trek: Into Darkness.

Charlie Hunnam, capturing the attention of audiences and critics in his role in Sons of Anarchy, was awarded for the Best Global Emerging Actor.

The lifetime Achievement Award went to Hans Zimmer, the Oscar and Grammy nominated composer for his extraordinary music producing for over 100 films, including Inception, The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Kung Fu Panda, Pirates of the Caribbean and most recently, 12 Years a Slave.

Fast & Furious 6 celebrated its achievement as the Best Global Movie of the year based on the popular vote of Chinese film fans.

The Huading Awards were established in 2007. "With the Huading Film Awards coming to Hollywood, it opens a door for Chinese films to the world," said Kun Wang, president of Talents Media Group and a founder of the awards.
