At the Paris Climate Change Conference, participants all agreed to take responsibilities and leave a better living environment for upcoming generations.
As for reaching the goal of holding the average temperature rise below 2 degrees Celcius, "all countries need to contribute, developed countries must lead the way, but without participation of all countries, particularly the biggest emerging economies such as China and India, it's not possible to reach that," said Kranjc, who also gave a brief introduction to European Union's actions on mitigating climate change.
"China has become the world's largest investor in clean energy, spending $89.5 billion, or 29 percent of the world total in 2014", said Kranjc, besides introducing actions undertaken or planned by China in the future years.
"And one of the most important things in implementing the Paris Climate Agreement is to ensure developed countries will provide $100 billion a year by 2020 to help developing countries transform their economies to cope with climate change. Success is within reach, however it is not guaranteed. A lot of work and politics will be needed, trust between rich and poor, developed and developing, financial and technological assistance to developing countries. And we need to act quickly, otherwise we'll miss the last train", said Kranjc.
