Cloisonne is an ancient technique for metalwork decoration using glasslike enamel, cut gemstones, glass and other materials.

Cloisonne enamel has over 600 years of history in China. With more than 10 production processes, this sophisticated traditional craft was once only reserved for Chinese royalty and is now listed as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Established in 1956, the Beijing Enamel Factory is a time-honored brand manufacturing exquisite cloisonne enamel items from vases to paintings. The factory has helped to demonstrate this treasured art form at many state occasions, including the APEC leaders' meeting in 2014 and US President Donald Trump's visit to the Palace Museum.

The art museum within the factory is open to the public free of charge, allowing people to closely appreciate these artistic handicrafts.
