The Communist Party of China has made Party building achievements in several aspects, including the education of Party members, construction of Party leaders groups and crackdown on corruption, said Wang Jingqing, vice-minister of the CPC Organization Department, during a news conference at the 18th CPC National Congress held on Friday.
More than 450 million Party members donated 9.73 billion yuan for disaster relief after the 8-magnitude earthquake in Sichuan province in 2008, Wang said.
And more women and ethnic groups have been elected as leaders at different levels of Party committees. For instance, 37 women became leaders in the five-year provincial-level general election of Party committees, 12 percent more than the previous term.
The Party also helped bring 2,793 overseas talents to China. The total number of talents reached 120 million by the end of 2010.
Meanwhile, more than 668,000 officials were punished for discipline violations from November 2007 to June 2012. And 639,000 cases were handled by discipline inspection authorities across the country.
