China appoints new minister of culture

China's top legislature on Dec 28 appointed Luo Shugang as minister of culture.
Luo was deputy head of the publicity department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
Biography of Luo Shugang
Luo Shugang, born in May 1955 in Hebei province, is a member of the 17th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
Luo entered the workforce in February 1971, and joined the CPC in September 1981. He received a postgraduate education at the Party School of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
Luo served as deputy head of the publicity department of the CPC Central Committee from 2000 to 2014.
On Dec 28, Luo was appointed minister of culture.
