Chinese Ambassador to the EU Yang Yanyi has said that seeking synergy of China's One Belt, One Road initiative and the 315 billion Euro investment plan "still needs a process," that both sides will not reach a consensus during the Brussels-Beijing summit on Monday.

"Of course, realizing the synergy of China's One Belt, One Road initiative and the 315 billion Euro investment plan is a process, which requires both sides to have a deep and comprehensive understanding of each other's proposals and plans," Yang said prior to Premier Li Keqiang's departure for Brussels on Sunday.

Citing a draft communique, Reuters previously reported that China is going to pledge a multi-billion dollar investment in Europe's new infrastructure fund.

"While the exact amount is still to be decided, the pledge will mark the latest step in China's efforts to shape global economic governance at the expense of the United States, and follows major EU governments' decision to join the Chinese-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank in defiance of Washington," Reuters reported.

Yang told China Daily that "The related governmental institutions of both sides should conduct further research and coordination regarding the cooperation."

But Yang says she felt delighted that businesses and academics on both sides have shown great interest in realizing such a synergy to deepen bilateral economic and trade relations and to better connect Asia and Europe.

Yang has cited the China-Hungary MOU of One Belt, One Road cooperation as the first signed between China and a European country. "We welcome other European countries to join the initiative," Yang said.
