BEIJING — Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang said on Friday that China will adhere to opening to the outside world while trying to achieve balanced and sustainable economic growth through expanding domestic demand.
"The strategic development basis for China is still to expand domestic demand, as the country is undergoing accelerating industrialization and urbanization. However, the goal should be achieved during continuous opening-up," Li said, adding China will implement a "proactive" strategy to promote further opening-up.
Li made the remarks when delivering a speech at the ceremony of celebrating the 100th anniversary of Bank of China Ltd (BOC) in Beijing.
"Financial and other types of enterprises should seek for opportunities and participate in competition on equal basis amid the opening up, and Chinese companies could improve complementary strengths and grow together with their foreign counterparts."
