Provinces see resident income grow faster than GDP

The urban and rural residents' income per capita of 18 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalites grew faster than their GDP in 2011, ce.cn reported Wednesday.

They are: Shanghai, Shanxi, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Shandong, Hainan and Inter Mongolia.

In 2011, the national disposable income of urban residents stood at 21,810 yuan per capita, up 14.1 percent year-on-year, with nine provinces seeing higher growth rates. Meanwhile, the national net income of rural residents rose 17.9 percent year-on-year to 6,977 yuan, with 11 provinces seeing higher rates, the report cited figures published by the National Bureau of Statistics.

The net income of rural residents in 29 provinces grew faster than the urban residents' income. In Hainan, the rural residents' income grew by 22.2 percent in 2011, the highest of all the provinces.

The income of urban and rural residents in the central and western areas grew faster than the eastern provinces. Of the 10 fastest-growing provinces, seven come from the central and western areas.
