HAIKOU - The first iF Design Exhibition showcasing more than 2,600 creative tourism products kicks off in south China's Hainan province Sunday.
With the cooperation of Germany-based International Forum Design (iF), the event shows various designs from 62 countries around the world.
"As more and more Chinese companies start to focus on creative ideas and designs, we have got a chance to popularize our 'iF product design award' across the country," said Li Jianguo, director of iF's Greater China Region, on the sidelines of the exhibition held in Haikou, capital of Hainan.
Established in 1953, the iF product design award is among the most important awards for innovative product design.
Paul Cohen, CEO of Australian Cube Industrial Design, said he was impressed by some specific tourism-related products designed by Chinese students, suggesting products with high quality and easy-to-use design may cater to tourists' various demands.
"As a tourism flourishing island, Hainan should develop energy-efficient and sustainable tourism products to attract more tourists," said Ralph Wiegmann, chairman of iF.
