SHIJIAZHUANG -- Chinese electronic information enterprises on this year's top 100 list totaled 1.76 trillion yuan ($253.97 billion) in main business revenues, an official with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said Tuesday.

The figure, which accounts for 24 percent of the sector's total, showed an increase of 14.7 percent from that of the enterprises on the top 100 list last year, Gao Sumei, deputy head of the MIIT's operational monitoring and coordination department, said at a news conference for the release of this year's list of the top 100 Chinese electronic information enterprises.

Among them, 34 enterprises saw their main business revenues exceed 10 billion yuan, up by seven from that of last year's top 100, Gao said at the conference held in North China's Hebei province.

Chinese electronics giant Huawei ranked first in terms of main business revenue, followed by Lenovo and Haier, according to Gao.

Total profits of these enterprises reached 88.4 billion yuan, taking up 27 percent of the sector's total. And 23 companies reported more than 1 billion yuan in profits, Gao said

Their assets totaled 1.73 trillion yuan, an increase of 20 percent from that of last year's top 100, Gao noted.

All together, they produced 27.88 million computers, 76.88 million TVs and 246 million mobile phones in 2011, accounting for 8.7 percent, 64.1 percent and 21.8 percent, respectively, of the sectors' total, Gao said.
