SHANGHAI -- The market volume of China's mobile gaming industry reached 1.2 billion yuan (about $188.64 million) in the second quarter of 2012, according to a report released Thursday by market researcher Analysis International.
The figure marked a 0.7 percent decrease from the first quarter of 2012, but was comparable to the volume seen in the same period of last year, said the report.
The mobile online gaming market reached 446 million yuan, covering about 37.2 percent of the mobile gaming market.
China's mobile gaming market is still in a growth stage based on numerous innovations such as the popularity of smart phones, social networking platforms and interactive entertainment, said Xue Yongfeng, an analyst with Analysis International.
It is expected that the market size of China's mobile gaming industry will see further expansion with the construction of wireless networks, Xue said.
