BEIJING - Chinese stock markets gained on Thursday following rallies in European markets.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 5.36 points, or 0.25 percent, to close at 2,113.07.
The Shenzhen Component Index climbed 4.53 points, or 0.05 percent, to close at 8,730.55 points.
European markets rallied after the US Federal Reserve raised hopes for fresh monetary stimulus, but HSBC flash China PMI suggesting that China's manufacturing sector is contracting capped the gains.
