Top operators to meet at the opening ceremony
How will China's three top mobile or fixed-line carriers deal with Web startups in the post-Internet age? Is corporatization the last straw to push them into the fast track for transformation? Can a network interwoven with cloud, pipeline, and client dispel misgivings on their channelization? The opening ceremony of the China Internet Conference 2012 on Sept 11 is expected to witness a first-ever face-to-face exchange among heavyweights in China's telecommunication industry. Here they will talk about the business mode of mobile Internet, fixed-line operations, alleged broad-band monopoly, etc., which make them real frienemies on the road to transformation. In the face of challenges as well as opportunities from the roaring mobile Internet, three chairmen's overture of sitting down to figure a way out together may give insight into the urgent needs of opening up for a better future.
Internet leaders take turns to stage dialogue
The dialogue of internet leaders, which has attracted great attention, has identified several heavyweight guests including Pony Ma, Robin Li, Charles Chao, William Ding and Zhou Hongyi. The form and topics of the dialogue have been revealed. The dialogue will take the form of a relay: inviting two guests at a time to conduct in-depth discussions on a specific topic. How do Pony Ma and Robin Li understand mobile internet? What are the views of Robin Li and Charles Chao on the interaction of social media and mobilization? What are the similarities and differences between Charles Chao and Zhou Hongyi in challenging the "tycoons" of Internet? What are the opinions of Zhou Hongyi and William Ding on the dispute of mobile Internet portals? The one-on-one clash between Internet leaders at the opening ceremony will become a highlight of this year's convention.
