German automaker Volkswagen AG said on Thursday that it appointed Jochem Heizmann as president and CEO of Volkswagen Group China, effective from September 1.
He will also be heading Volkswagen's newly established board of management function for China, which is set to give extra momentum to the company's development in the country.
Heizmann will oversee all the businesses of Volkswagen in China, including the group's brands and joint ventures.
Heizmann brings a wealth of executive, strategic and industrial engineering and production planning experience. In his 30-year career in a variety of positions within Volkswagen, prior to his most recent role as member of the board of management, he had responsibilities in the company's commercial vehicles operations since Oct 2010.
"China has been and will continue to be the largest and most important market for Volkswagen Group. I'm truly looking forward to the task of driving the group development in China," Heizmann said.
