As Italian luxury brand Salvatore Ferragamo enjoys a sales growth of 36 percent in China in the first quarter this year, it is intending to attract more Chinese customers by authorizing a Chinese website to sell its products.
Since Oct 11, Chinese people can purchase its products on xiu.com, a Chinese e-commerce website for fashion products. The Chinese website announced the news at its official Weibo (China’s Twitter) on sina.com recently.
George Ji, chief executive officer of xiu.com, said the company has sent staff to the brand’s headquarters in Italy for the first order, which includes its classic series and 2012 autumn/winter series—shoes, bags, scarves and other accessories.
Ji, however, did not disclose details about the term of the cooperation.
Established in 1927, Ferragamo was early known for making shoes for Hollywood stars like Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. Later the brand expands its businesses to haute couture, bag, fragrance and so on.
In the first quarter of this year, Ferragamo’s net profit grew by 10.2 percent, with the largest share from the Asian-Pacific region.
Xiu.com, started in 2008, received a record-high investment of $100 million from Warburg Pincus in2011 inthe second-round fund raising. It has been exploring the way to cooperate with top fashion brands in the world.
