BEIJING - China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) said Tuesday that this year its overseas projects produced 86.21 million tons of crude oil and 17.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas as of Dec 17.
The company's overseas operation in the past year has been under the pressure of the global economic downturn, turmoil in some oil states, and tight policies in resource countries, the company said.
The figure equals to the annual production capacity of CNPC's domestic Daqing oilfield, the country's largest oil and gas deposit.
In comparison, China produced 204 million tons of crude oil and 102.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas domestically last year, according to BP Statistical Review of World Energy.
CNPC, the parent company of the listed PetroChina Co, operates 35 oil and gas production projects outside China.
