Central bank governor Zhou Xiaochuan vowed on Monday a steady approach with the possibility of some minor adjustments.
"Generally speaking, we will continue to implement prudent monetary policies," he said in an interview with China Central Television.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, GDP growth fell to 7.5 percent in the second quarter, from the 7.7 percent three months earlier.
Zhou said the domestic momentum driving China's growth is still robust, and a consecutive drop in GDP growth is unlikely.
"We will find a balance, where we will not only maintain relatively strong growth, but also optimize the economic structure, and thus leave space for undertaking further reforms."
