Chinese shares close higher on Friday

BEIJING - Chinese shares closed higher on Friday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.70 percent, or 37.22 points, to finish at 2,228.15.

The Shenzhen Component Index increased 0.60 percent, or 52.18 points, to finish at 8,737.97.
