HANOI — Vietnam is completing procedures to establish a trade and investment office in China's Zhejiang province, said Do Kim Lang, deputy head of Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Tuesday.

Lang made the remark at Zhejiang-Vietnam Purchasing Conference held in Vietnamese capital Hanoi on Tuesday attended by 30 Chinese companies and more than 80 Vietnamese companies.

In the past few years, Vietnam and China have enjoyed close economic cooperation, said Lang, adding that Vietnam has established its first representative office in China's Chongqing Municipality and it is expected to set up a second one in robust economic hub of Hangzhou city, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, to bring the bilateral trade ties to a new height.

Huang Xiaohang, vice chairman of the Zhejiang Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said that 30 Chinese companies, which focus on cultural industries, will have the chance of face-to-face negotiations with Vietnamese counterparts in project investment, industry cooperation, market development, and technical exchanges among others.

Both countries should establish mechanism to make trade promotion activities regular and effective, said Huang.

According to Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vietnam and China have long-lasting traditional relations. In the past few years, the bilateral ties have maintained non-stop developments. For 11 years in a row, China has been Vietnam's biggest trade partner and Vietnam's No 1 export market.
