Macao's visitors spending up 17.5% in Q2

MACAO- China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) saw the total spending of visitors reach 13.75 billion patacas ($1.71 billion) in the second quarter of 2017, up 17.5 percent year-on-year, according to figures released by Macao's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) on Friday.

In the second quarter of 2017, the per-capita spending of visitors was 1,787 patacas, an increase of 11.7 percent year-on-year.

The per-capita spending of visitors from the Chinese mainland amounted to 2,162 patacas, up 16.8 percent year-on-year, the figures shows.

Meanwhile, the per-capita spending of overnight visitors increased 7.4 percent year-on-year to 2,733 patacas, and that of the same-day visitors went up 2.0 percent year-on-year to 671 patacas.

Visitors' spending on shopping, accommodation and food and beverage accounted for 43.0 percent, 25.6 percent and 23.1 percent respectively. (1 dollar equals 8.05 patacas.)
