KANO, Nigeria - Nigeria's police in northern Kano state on Monday said 186 people were killed by the Boko Haram extremists during the massacre in the state last Friday.
The figure was disclosed by the state police commissioner Ibrahim Idrisin a statement reaching Xinhua on Monday night in the state capital.
The areas affected are the police Zonal headquarters along BUK road, whereby a suicide bomber drove a car forcefully through the gates and detonated a bomb which destroyed part of the building, the police statement said.
According to the statement, same group of terrorist launched an attack at farm center and Zaria road police division, Immigration Passport office located at farm center, SSS headquarters at Giginyu quarters, the official residence of the AIG Zone One and St. Louis secondary school simultaneously.
The police said at the command headquarters Bompai, two cars heavily loaded with explosive devices, primed for suicide mission were resisted by the police, the first suicide bomber drove through the JFK end of Bompai barracks when resisted by the officers on duty detonated on the road and could not have an access to the barracks.
The statement added that the second vehicle Toyota Camry was sporadically fired by the police, ran into the wall and could not have an access into the state command headquarters, the driver while attempted to escape was gun down and the explosive were demobilized by the men of the explosive ordinance device.
