School bus crash death toll hits 3 in S China

GUANGZHOU - The death toll from a road accident involving a school bus and a truck in South China's Guangdong province on Monday has risen to three, local authorities said Tuesday.
Early Tuesday morning, a female student died in hospital, becoming the latest fatality from the accident. All the deceased are girls, according to publicity officials in the city of Yangchun.
As of Tuesday morning, 14 people injured in the crash remained in hospital, seven of them sustained serious injuries.
Initial investigation has shown the bus, which can carry no more than 11 passengers and belongs to the Jinlong Yucai Kindergarten, was overloaded, carrying 19 people including 17 children, the driver and a teacher.
Further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
