Three journalists shared their reporting experiences with media workers from home and abroad during a conference held by the All-China Journalists Association in Beijing on April 13.

Cheng Zhiliang from Xinhua news agency, Liu Yi from People's Daily, and Xiao Zhongren from China Radio International shared stories of reporting in rural areas, at a weather station 4,800 meters above sea level, and on a hospital ship sailing around the world with Chinese navy.

All three said that "going grassroots" helped change their writing and working styles.
