China reiterated dialogue as the only correct way to solve Iran's disputed nuclear issue, Assistant Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu said on Monday, before leading a delegation to Iraq for the next round of Iranian nuclear talks.
The talks, to be held in Baghdad on Wednesday between Tehran and the 5+1 group, would further consolidate mutual trust, cooperative momentum and regional stability, Ma told reporters.
Representatives of Iran and the six world powers, including the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and Germany, held a round of talks in Istanbul on April 14, breaking a 15-month hiatus.
"The Istanbul meeting started the dialogue process, while China hopes the Baghdad meeting would kick off substantial negotiations," said Ma, urging all concerned parties to properly address differences based on mutual respect.
"The international community places high hope in the Baghdad talks, while the complicated Iranian nuclear issue can hardly be resolved overnight but needs all sides' confidence and efforts," he said.
China would continue adhering to the fair stance on the issue and playing a constructive role to promote dialogue and stability in the region, Ma added.
