A 74-year-old former senior official in a local State-owned company was sentenced on Tuesday in Shanghai to life in prison for corruption, Shanghai based sh.east day.com reported.

Wu Xiaoli, former corporate representative and general manager of Shanghai Guanxin Construction Supervision, embezzled more than 46 million yuan ($7.3 million) by falsifying accounts and hiding receivable accounts.

Wu's company was under Shanghai's public utilities bureau before 2000, but was out of supervision from authority from 2000 to 2008. Wu was accused of forged books and documents since 2009, when her company was under SOE reform and taken over by a new company.

Wu has returned the embezzled money.
