BEIJING - A Foreign Ministry spokesman on Wednesday voiced deep concern over the current situation in Syria, adding that China expects all relevant parties to create favorable conditions for political talks.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin said at a regular press briefing that the Syrian conflict is in a critical stage and that China hopes relevant parties will stop fighting and strive to protect innocent civilians.
"China is working with the international community to seek all possible means to ease tensions in Syria. China positively views the proposals made by the Russian side and Kofi Annan and is studying them," he added.
China has maintained communication and coordination with all relevant parties to seek a fundamental solution to the Syrian conflict through political means, Liu said.
