A theme park has launched a cheeky campaign to boost visitor numbers by offering females a discount to wear skimpy skirts, Changjiang Times reported.
Guilin Merryland Resort will reward women over 18 a half price discount, 55-yuan ($8.60), if they wear a skirt shorter than 38 centimeters during July and August.
Scantily-clad females will also be given a further discounted price of 10 yuan on the mornings of July 21 and 22.
A representative of the park said they launched the annual discount campaign five years ago, and received good results.
Some in Guilin were positive about the promotion. "We enjoy the discount during the summer vacation, it is good for people like us who are university students."
"It is good to make use of beauties to trigger development. Most people look at this campaign in a healthy way," said Internet user Yang Guangyu.
But many have branded the stunt vulgar. "The park doesn't increase revenue by improving services and infrastructure, but by appealing to the public in vulgar a campaign," Internet user Flying Fish said.
"Is it honorable for visitors to get a discount by wearing less? " questioned Ao Xue Hong Mei.
The resort, which opened in December 2005, covers an area of 400 hectares and boasts seven theme areas including the Wild West and Pirate Village. Visitors can ride a carousel, watch movies, go boating and stay overnight in a five-star hotel.
