The city of Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, is trying to attract more businesses, especially those based in Shanghai.
Officials from the Zhanjiang government and Shanghai Baosteel Group stated their goals at a news conference on Thursday.
"Our city has been connected to Shanghai through a series of steel projects in Zhanjiang," Zhanjiang Mayor Wang Zhongbing said.
One such project is the 69.6 billion yuan ($10.9 billion) Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron & Steel Co project, which is currently under way.
Wang said the city is looking forward to more opportunities to work with investors from other cities and even overseas.
