A BMW driver who killed four people after racing in Dongguan on Sunday evening was put in criminal detention, Yangcheng Evening News reported.
At 8:54 pm a BMW X3 with the license plate Guangdong SLS628 raced along Yongning Road in Zhangmutou county, Dongguan, and hit seven people one by one; four of them died, including a 16–month-old baby; the three other people were injured.
The driver has been detained. Initial investigation showed the driver is the car owner, named Huang, 26, a resident of Maoming, Guangdong province. His father has a trading company in Dongguan.
The public security department of Zhangmutou county said Huang was receiving mental health treatment last year in a hospital in Guangzhou. The department has asked experts to assess Huang's psychological condition, according to the report.
