Residents in Shanghai can now check local food producers qualifications by logging on to an electronic food safety map.

The electronic map was produced by the Shanghai Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau and went online this week. It’s the latest effort by the city to strengthen food safety management.

A total of 1,833 food producers in the city that have production licenses are listed on the map. The map also includes the producers’ address, products, license number and information about when their license will expire.

The electronic map is currently only available in Chinese.

Officials from Shanghai Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau said they will continue to improve the function of the map and update its information.
