BEIJING - Around-the-clock security arrangements have been put in place for the sixth Summer Davos Forum set to open in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin on Tuesday, the Ministry of Public Security said Monday.

The ministry said several hundred police officers and firefighters have been assigned to monitor security in the hall where the opening ceremony will be held and patrol key areas.

Security personnel will work around the clock for the forum, the ministry said in a statement.

Premier Wen Jiabao is scheduled to attend the forum and meet foreign leaders there.

A total of 1,610 delegates have registered for the forum, according to figures released Thursday.

The northern Chinese port cities of Dalian and Tianjin have hosted the summer forum in turn since 2007.
