German scholar Mayke Wagner has recently joined the Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage as a guest researcher.

Wagner, who is the first guest researcher ever at the institution, is the deputy director of the German Archaeology Institute’s Eurasia Archaeology Department.

Her research is mainly focused on East Asia’s prehistoric archaeology, environmental archaeology and cultural heritage.

She will carry out academic exchange and staff training programs, and will participate in specific field heritage protection projects, applying Western ideas and technologies to the projects.
