More than 26 people have signed up for the first expat volunteers' group in Guangzhou, Guangdong province.
The expats, who are between 10 and 60 and from 11 countries, live in the Nanguo Olympic Garden community in Panyu district.
The volunteers' group was officially launched on Wednesday, the Guangzhou Daily reported.
During the recruitment process for the volunteers, activities were held including tree planting projects, cultural exchange meetings, events to make glutinous rice dumplings, and community cleaning campaigns.
More than 8,000 foreigners are registered in Panyu district, including 3,000 living in Clifford Estate, a residential development.
