A senior land official in Southwest China is being investigated on suspicion of serious violations.
Mao Yixin has been under investigation since Sept 28 and is alleged to have links to a real estate project, Beijing News reported.
Party disciplinary authorities said 38.7 million yuan ($6.2 million) in cash was found during a search at his home.
Mao is director of land and resources for Xindu, an industrial district in Sichuan's provincial capital, Chengdu.
The report said there have been constant complaints about use of land in the district since 2006.
Mao is the latest high-ranking official in the city to be investigated, after Li Chuncheng, its former deputy Party chief, and Dai Xiaoming, former chairman of the State-owned Chengdu Industry Investment Group.
