An APEC conference on financial literacy in education was held at the Friendship Hotel in Beijing last week. Over 40 representatives from 12 APEC economies, as well as the OECD and the Asia Development Bank, took part in the conference.
China regards education as a strategic priority in the development of society and knowledge of economics must be a fundamental part of any education, Zhang Xiuqin, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange under the Ministry of Education, said in an address during the opening ceremony.
Yuan Zhenguo, president of the National Institute of Education Sciences, highlighted the fact that knowledge of the economy and finance in general is permeating every aspect of modern life.
This conference is part of the APEC “Financial and Economic Literacy” project sponsored by the Ministry of Education of China.
