BEIJING - Rainfall will continue affecting South China in the next three days while temperature keep rising in the North, meteorological authorities forecast on Saturday.

Summer approaches with the highest temperature hitting over 25 Celsius degrees Friday in east areas of Northwest and North China and regions along the Yellow river and Huaihe river, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said in an online statement.

However, rainfall will extend to affect Southeast areas of Tibet, South areas of Yunnan, East Sichuan Basin, South regions of Yangtze River and parts of South China, with certain areas receiving downpours.

Some of the above regions will also experience temporary thunderstorms, gales and hailstones, the center forecast.

The center also warned of thunder and lightning in South China and suggest people away from trees, high towers or advertisement boards.

Meanwhile, people in North China should pay more attention to food safety amid warmer weather.
