The Ministry of Land and Resources issued a notice on its official website on May 13 asking local land authorities to crack down on land requisition cases that involve mandatory demolition.
The notice was released after several such cases were reported recently, triggering public anger.
The ministry said the farmers' legal rights and interests should be the priority in land requisition, and local land authorities need to improve compensation policies involving land requisition. The ministry also asked local land authorities to report any conflicts to higher land bureaus to avoid further problems, adding that violent conduct causing incidents or a severe social affect will be investigated and punished.
