TAIPEI - Several Taiwan's naval vessels, coast guard ships and fighter jets conducted a fishery protection drill in waters south of Taiwan on Thursday.
The drill marked the first time for Taiwanese naval vessels to cross the "temporary enforcement line" established by the island's authorities at 20 degrees north latitude.
The drill included exercises related to communication, air defense, damage control and lifesaving.
The drill followed the death of a Taiwan fisherman who was shot and killed by Philippine Coast Guard officers last week.
