A 30-minute 3D documentary about the National Museum of China and its collection premiered on May 16 — marking the formal opening of the museum's digital cinema.
The documentary is an abridged version of a previous six-episode series, which was filmed by the National Museum and China Central Television (CCTV) in 2012 to celebrate the 100 anniversary of the museum.
It introduces the museum and its important collections in historical order. Some of the pieces are shown to the public for the first time in the film.
The 3D version will be broadcasted on CCTV in the evening on Saturday, May 18, International Museum Day.
