LOS ANGELES - Paramount Pictures of the United States announced on Monday that it had added Chinese actress Li Bingbing into the cast for the upcoming sci-fi actioner "Transformers 4," based on the product line of the well-known American toy maker Hasbro.
Li, who is best known by western audience for starring in "Resident Evil: Retribution" and "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan," will join hands with Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci and others in the fourth installment in the hit film franchise from the Paramount Pictures.
"I am excited to have Li Bingbing join our cast and to be shooting portions of the movie in her native China, "said Michael Bay who helmed the project. "I have always aspired to work with the best actors and this cast is especially exciting now with the addition of Li."
Paramount said last month it would join hands with China Movie Channel and Jiaflix Enterprise on the latest installment of the blockbuster film. It also decided to shoot some sequences in China as well as casting Chinese actors and actresses in the new movie, with a budget of $165 million dollars.
The new film will hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
