5.8-magnitude quake hits Taiwan

TAIPEI - A 5.8-magnitude earthquake hit the area 190.1 kilometers to the southeast of Hualien County in Taiwan at around 4:25 pm Tuesday Beijing Time, according to Taiwan meteorological authorities.
The epicenter, with a depth of 13.7 km, was monitored at 23.27 degrees north latitude and 123.31 degrees east longitude, the center said in a statement.
The tremor was slightly felt in Taipei.
