An official from Shenzhen has been relieved of his post after he was accused of acting indecently toward a male hotel attendant in Taiwan.

Li Pingshan, discipline committee secretary and director of the comprehensive office of Longgang neighborhood committee in Shenzhen’s Longgang district, is now under investigation by relevant departments, said a press release from the information office of Longgang district.

“Li, born in 1970, will face further punishment if he is found to have violated Party discipline and the country’s relevant regulations and laws,” said the press release published on Thursday night.

The finding of the probe will be made public when it is completed, according to the press release.

The news was first reported by a Taiwan television program on May 21.

It was reported that he had paid 180,000 Taiwan dollars ($6,500) in compensation to the man in a bid to settle out of court. Li returned to Shenzhen in Wednesday afternoon.
