An education center for children of migrant workers, dedicated to the memory of a young girl who died in tragic circumstances, opened in Guangdong province.
The center, located at Foshan bazaar, honors the memory of Yue Yue who was run over by vehicles in October 2011 when she was playing.
Despite being in obvious distress, at least 18 pedestrians and cyclists passed without stopping to help Yue Yue. Her death and the apathy of passers-by shocked the country.
The center covers a floor space of more than 100 square meters in Foshan’s Nanhai district, Guangzhou-based Yangcheng Evening News reported.
The special childcare center, supported by local government, offers a safe and security environment to children of migrant workers.
According the Women’s Federation of Nanhai district, the district has more than 1.2 million migrant workers.
