Beijing police have issued advice to help women escape being harassed in subways, Beijing News reported on Tuesday.
Harassment cases rise with the arrival of summer, according to the traffic department under the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau.
The department suggested women should wear clothing that is not too revealing, especially if they are taking public transport. If they feel threatened or harassed they should immediately contact the police or shout for help.
Women can use bags, magazines or newspapers to cover body parts that are exposed, the advice said.
In addition, women should also pay attention to bags and jewelry, the department added.
