Downtown Shanghai hit by brief blackout

SHANGHAI - Three downtown districts of Shanghai were hit by a power outage that lasted about one-and-a-half hours Wednesday evening, affecting the operation of a subway line.
Some areas in Huangpu, Jing'an and Xuhui districts experienced a blackout starting at 8:10 pm, sources from the city's power supplier said, adding that a section of the Line 2 subway was affected.
Power was resumed as of 10 pm.
Local police and firefighters said they have received reports of residents being trapped in elevators and on escalators. No casualties have been reported.
