The China Railway Corp announced its freight transportation operation will undergo an overhaul and reform of service from June 15.
Cheng Xiandong, head of the transport division of the corp, said that the reform aims to provide the most direct, convenient and best service for customers.
It will simplify current procedures that customers are required to go through before getting the rail department to accept their cargo.
After the reform, a client will be able to choose from various options.
These include calling the railway customer service hotline 12306, or going online and typing in the cargo shipping request at the official website www.12306.cn.
To shake off its aloof image, the corp will also require its employees to be friendlier to customers.
